A new project by Amelie Duchow
How does a language sound like, beyond the words' meaning?
How much does the sound of a language influence us?
How does the sound of a language speak to us?
The research for my new audiovisual project Logos Mater is based on the sonorous analysis of languages.
The composition of Logos Mater takes inspiration from different phonetic and acoustic sound elements associated with emotive values and provenances of our languages.
By a sound analysis, followed by a specific synthesis, fragmentation and modulation of the soundmaterial based on a large number of languages, the composition for this project
emerges in a global language that does not express itself with words but with sound.
Your voice contribution
Are you interested in participating in my project with your voice in your native language?
To complete LOGOS MATER project I would need as many different languages as possible.
My interest lies in the sound of your mother language, not in the meaning of the words.
In case you decide to participate in the project, you'll find here below a voice recorder which you can use directly in this page to send me your voice.
Before recording you need to express your consent to the use of your voice and your language information.
Every voice will contribute to the audio composition.
I will use the voices in different ways for my composition:
- original sound not recognizable; completly transformed by synthesis, fragmentation, fx application, etc.
- original sound fragmented but in parts recognizable
I hereby authorize Amelie Duchow to record my voice and grant the irrevocable right to use my audio recording in the project Logos Mater throughout the world an unlimited number of times during live performances, promotion, record release or any other lawful purpose. No personal data will be shared, sold, transferred or otherwise made available to any third party. I understand that I will not receive any monetary compensation for the permissions I am granting herein.
Please leave your contribution in form of a voice recording (about 30sec).
Feel free to say what you want, otherwise you may say these two sentences in your native language:
Languages express the melodies of life (Pascal Mercier)
Language is not only communication but also thinking
You can record multiple times, listen to your recording, and choose the one you like to send me
Press RECORD and wait for instruction to speak
